Perspective for Brands, Businesses, and Investments at COP30
By: Alana Leite, Branding and Communication Manager.
For the first time in history, the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP) will be held in the heart of the Amazon: In Brazil, in Pará, and in Belém. The thirtieth edition of the event expects to receive an audience of more than 40,000 people, divided among Heads of State and Ministers, Diplomats, UN Representatives, Scientists, Researchers, Business Leaders, as well as NGOs, Activists, and Representatives of Indigenous Peoples.
In a recent press statement, the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, said that COP30 will be different from all others. “It’s one thing to discuss the Amazon in Egypt; it’s another thing to discuss the Amazon in Berlin; it’s another thing to discuss the Amazon in Paris. Now, no. Now we are going to discuss the importance of the Amazon within the Amazon. We are going to discuss the indigenous issue, seeing the indigenous people. We are going to discuss the issue of riverside populations, seeing the riverside populations and seeing how they live.” (Source: Gov.br)
In addition to discussions on climate and sustainability, COP30 presents itself as a valuable space for investments and new business opportunities. It is the ideal environment for those who wish to learn about the variety of natural resources and their sustainable use up close. It is the chance to connect with companies and investors interested in the Green Economy. The international visibility of this conference attracts, for example, funding for startups and companies focused on green technologies and sustainable solutions. Many businesses and new partnerships will expand, so being present at this event will allow early access to trends that will impact the market.

The main themes addressed at COP30 will be:
- Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions;
- Adaptation to climate change;
- Climate financing for developing countries;
- Renewable energy technologies and low-carbon solutions;
- Preservation of forests and biodiversity;
- Climate justice and the social impacts of climate change.
What companies can expect from the event:
- High-level networking and strategic partnerships;
- Public and private efforts in areas such as renewable energy, biofuels, and low-carbon agriculture;
- Sustainable solutions and Green Business opportunities;
- Access to knowledge and exclusive content from the perspective of local peoples and international experts;
- Scientific studies and data supporting political and business discussions;
- Creation of Strategic Plans for businesses aligned with new global environmental guidelines and regulations;
- Access to Funds and Incentives for sustainable projects;
- Trends and cutting-edge solutions in sustainable technology.
Considering that more and more companies are demonstrating interest and commitment to ESG (environmental, social, and governance) practices, participating in COP30 will help strengthen your brand image, in addition to gaining greater trust from the market and consumers.
Guidelines for Brand Positioning at COP30:
- Show your ESG initiatives in a real, truthful way, and what impacts are generated;
- Avoid generic promises that only work in media narratives;
- Research, understand, and effectively connect with the conference audience;
- Have clear and transparent communication, that’s what generates credibility. There is no more room for empty speeches!
There are many expectations until November 2025. What I hope is that the legacy of this conference will be positive for Belém, for the planet, and for new businesses.
